Privacy Policy

ImmiWire is a news site covering international immigration, published by MPH Numérique, based in Montreal (Quebec, Canada). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can exercise your rights. ImmiWire is committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applicable to European visitors, as well as Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information (Law 25).

Data we collect

We collect only the following data, and only when you provide it yourself:

  • Your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Your name, email address, and message content, if you use our contact form.

We also measure site traffic (page views, unique visitors) through an internal, self-hosted system, without relying on a third-party analytics service. This measurement relies on an anonymous identifier generated in your browser (see the next section) and does not allow us to identify you personally.

Cookies and local storage

ImmiWire uses a deliberately limited number of cookies and browser-stored data:

  • nt_country: remembers your display-country preference, kept for 1 year.
  • nt_human: confirms that you have passed an anti-bot check, so you are not asked again on every visit.
  • An anonymous visitor identifier, stored in your browser's localStorage, used exclusively for the internal audience measurement described above. It is never shared with a third party.
  • Supabase session cookies, reserved for the site's editorial and administration area (journalists and authorized staff), with no effect on visitors to the public site.

Advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve relevant ads to our visitors. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices. If you visit this site from the European Economic Area, your consent is requested before any advertising cookie is placed.

Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR and Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to access, rectify, and delete your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact contact@immiwire.com.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link included in every email.
